This is cool. If I were editing it, I'd make the pads a little louder and add in a more unique element. The piece is really well done, but it's essentially just some (repetitive) drums, effects, and pads. It lacks variety!

Also, in my head I really hear a swingy fast-paced hi-hat beat coming in at some point and being awesome. I dunno.

SquidFurnace responds:

awesome man, couldn't have put it better, that's what I feel it could use too. I almost felt bad for uploading it too early, just knowing it sounds rushed. I'll keep working on it, thanks a lot for your input.

You certainly got the feel right! The drums are really well done, I listened with headphones and was thinking some of the drum sounds were coming from real life, like my house was falling apart or who knows xD

If I had to critique it, I'd say it's got a ton of potential for a ghostly little melody to be introduced, maybe halfway in. I think that would really drive this up from a 3.5 to a 4.5.

Good job!

Really interesting percussion! I think overall it failed to go anywhere. The bass that comes in halfway is neat, but the feel of the song is mostly the same entirely throughout. Sampling isn't 100% but it's close.

More variation, a little tuning, and maybe a more pronounced melody and this would be A+!

Thanks dude. took a while for me to reply to this but it's been very helpful feedback and has really shaped my style thanks

The atmosphere pad introduced in the beginning almost hurts sometimes and is possibly a little distorted. Tone down its high frequency maybe? Sick alien-like effects. The switch at 1.44 really needs to have a proper transition, slow reverse cymbal or a fill effect maybe?

I'm typically more a fan of melody-based songs, but I acknowledge this piece is focussed on effects. It's sorta cool!

Avalon69 responds:

Thanks very much for the feedback!

This is clean as fuck. Impressive! I hate when a song starts off sounding good but then doesn't go anywhere and that's totally not the case with this. You managed to really add in a good amount of variety and drama!

I was thinking I didn't like the offkey riff, but then I decided that it was genius. I really enjoy this, and I'm hardly a fan of the genre.

RichardBatchelor responds:

Thankyou :) I always struggle to decide what genre to put certain songs in, feels kind of indie, but I want it to lean more towards Video game music and film.

Thanks for the positive vibes dude :)

You aced the genre my friend.

Sometimes it's almost just noise, but it's still great to listen to! Respect yo.

TjpjMusic responds:

thanks

I don't like rock and I love this.

The melody is excellent! I love it and the choice of elements is good. Production is quite crowded at times, at 0:09 it really distorts a fair bit, and it doesn't loop perfectly. With a little work, though, it could be excellent!

josh-tamugaia responds:

Yes, it doesn't loop perfectly. If you need to use it, you will need to download it and make minor adjustments and cropping. Thanks

Heyo, I produce music using Fruity Loops Studio. I love the art of production, and I'm always eager to learn more. I write electronic tunes that tend not to fit within any genre, and I'd like to say that's my style!
