Definitely the right move to take electronic peace and move it to this tempo!!

That pad is glorious dawg. When it hits too low it crashes a little bit tho - just equalize that a little down maybe? Great drums, great strings, and it's all mixed well.

You've got a great ear for the low frequency I think :)

Also are the bells a little off-key towards the end of their loop?

Overall it's great, although the ending is a little abrupt! A few minor changes and it's a 5, for now 4 I'd say.

Really impressive! Totally indistinguishable from songs in any classic video game (like link!)

Really cool! The melody and instruments are great. I'd say try to mix the drums in better - they stick out a little. I really like the low freq. sidechain-pad-thing. Maybe a little off-key around 1:38? No big deal. Have you ever played pocket tanks? This really reminds me of the PT theme.

Good job btw!!

I'm blown away!! Truly excellent. And I totally agree - very age of empires

Emid responds:

Thanks a lot for the comment bro.

I think the part where flutes come in looks like age of empire-ish, thats why it resembles to some extent. As far as my listening goes, the combination of chords I have used is one of the strongest and commonest combo in Middle Eastern music. This combination can be found even in Turkish, Persian Greeks and Spain as well as Afghans. So the resemblance is most likely. Anyways glad you enjoyed :)

There's some cool stuff going on with the scrub wheel! I'm just reading your comment, if you're in FL then you /definitely/ don't need to limit to the extent that the drums get wrecked (even though the default samples are pretty poor). You should try going with multiband/normal compressor, and I find waveshaper is hugely helpful as well!

Overall this is a pretty neat song, although I think it lacks form. It's just effect after effect with no real overall plan, y'know? Something with these effects and a concrete arrangement would be sweet in my opinion, and I think you're almost there.

The-iMortal responds:

Cheers for the review! Yeah, this track is really old and I have updated my sample library with quality drum samples that don't get wrecked by a limiter :D

I use Ableton Live btw (though, I used Nuendo for this track).

I agree about the lacking form. The composition is bleh except for that one melody, which I think I may use in another and improved track in the future.

Hehe I know the feeling of killing an entire day on a song.

This isn't exactly original, but I can't find much more fault than that! Somehow you manage to pull off some really cheesy instruments really well. Impressive!

Oh man. The pitch bend on that sitar-like thing is glorious. This is actually really excellent. Every moment introduces a new sound to keep attention. I'm curious what DAW you use?

My only complaint is this is too short - I want more of it. Keep up the great work!

Kaskrin responds:

FL Studio.. The pitch bend sitar sounding thing is Harmor, made it myself no preset. Going to definitely finish this thing, it'll be free to download once it's done too, make sure you're around!

PS: I'm in the process of making the drops heavier and the third key-changed interval longer.

Great instruments! Hehe makes me nostalgic for the game which is definitely a good sign. The sound overall is actually really professional, with really good attention to detail and no crowding at all.

It's not what you had in mind, for sure, but I think this would be 5 stars if you did something really original with it. Like drop in a melody of your own, using an instrument that wasn't originally part of the song.

Still great though!

Neon-Bard responds:

Thanks for the kind review! :D

I'm glad it was able to give you nostalgia, as you said, that's a good sign. This is far from being 'original', but I think I've managed to incorporate my own style into the song for sure (such as with the flute, french horn, etc.)!

It's tough for me to rate a remix of one of my songs :P but I can say you threw in some melody that was surprising and cool! The lowered tempo is an interesting variation on the original.

This is really neat :)

Heyo, I produce music using Fruity Loops Studio. I love the art of production, and I'm always eager to learn more. I write electronic tunes that tend not to fit within any genre, and I'd like to say that's my style!
